Beverly Klau is an educator and connector with a passion in building inclusive communities and strengthening connections between individuals. After spending over a decade teaching and facilitating programs that seek to deepen personal relationships between members of a community, Bev decided to create an app that would foster a deep sense of community through gathering and sharing stories that matter. Initially, Beverly collaborated with other software developers to work on her project. However, only after connecting with Technology Rivers, she was able to see her idea quickly come to life into a beautiful application.

I’m Bev Klau, founder and CEO of Verbina. Verbina is a social media app for purposeful connection for transformational communities. We connect communities of purpose across time and place.
We came to Technology Rivers having already started working with another offshore firm. What they had created was really not anything that was usable. There were bugs, it was clunky, it was not predictable in terms of the performance and Technology Rivers did an entire overhaul of the app. They made it workable and did all the improvements that we had asked for and also gave us strategic advice on what else the user would find beneficial.
It has been so amazing to work with a company that actually turns things around and fixes things. I have had the experience of working with another firm where the communication is slow, the app doesn’t function, and things are unpredictable. It is such a pleasure to work with Technology Rivers.
My background is in education and facilitation, so when I came to Technology Rivers, I wanted to create something that would simulate the type of work that I’m really most familiar with. So I came to them with really not very much knowledge in technology, and they were able to translate something that I really understand, which is building community, and they were able to bring that into this app that we’ve created.
What I love most about Technology Rivers is the ability to turn things around quickly. They work very fast, but also really listen well. So the open communication has been fantastic. We meet on a regular basis, and leading up to the meeting, someone from Technology Rivers lays out here’s what we are going to be talking about. And after the meeting, they give a very thorough recap. Here’s what we heard, here’s what we’re going to do going forward, and there’s always opportunities to get in touch with someone because we’re on a Slack channel. I love how responsive they are as a team.
Working with Technology Rivers has been more than just getting a technical partner. I also get strategic advice and that’s been exceptional to be able to get some real business and marketing strategy as well as the technology that we really needed. In addition to that, we’ve also gotten some introductions to potential investors and potential partners and it’s been great.
