CUSTOMER SUCCESS STORY

Building Software for Today Without Limiting Where the Business Can Go Tomorrow

Michael Stewart’s team wasn’t looking for a development company to simply complete an initial build. They wanted a partner that could help develop an enterprise-wide solution from scratch, support integrations, adjust resources as needs changed, and remain part of the journey for the long term.

“The relationship they built since day one has been extremely supportive, flexible and productive.”

Why Michael Values Working with Technology Rivers

Built for Long-Term Growth

Michael’s team wasn’t selecting a developer for a short-term project. They wanted to start from scratch while making sure the solution and development relationship could support where the company planned to go in the future.

Resources That Can Scale With the Need

An important part of Technology Rivers’ approach was giving Michael’s team choices about the level of development they wanted. Resources could also scale up or down during the relationship rather than forcing the company into a rigid model.

Trust and Continual Communication

Michael describes trust and ongoing communication as foundational to the relationship. Technology Rivers combines communication tools with personal outreach in a way Michael calls “ideal.”

Advice, Not Just Development

Michael’s recommendation to prospective clients is simple: talk with Technology Rivers. What stands out is his confidence that the team will recommend an appropriate path, whether that ultimately means a solution with Technology Rivers or another option.

"I remain ecstatic about working with Technology Rivers. I think that the relationship they built since day one has been extremely supportive, flexible and productive."

The Product Challenge

Start From Scratch. Build With the Future in Mind.

Michael Stewart, Founder of Democracy Delivered LLC, was developing Your Place Online as an enterprise-wide solution. From the beginning, the goal wasn’t simply to get a first version built.

They wanted a solution capable of growing with the company and integrating with other solutions as the business evolved.

That changed what they needed from a development company.

The right partner needed to provide enough experience to handle varied requirements, appropriate resources for the current stage, value that made sense for the business, and the flexibility to grow alongside it.

Technology Rivers entered the picture as Michael’s team evaluated development companies against those longer-term requirements.

"We planned to develop our company long into the future. We wanted to find a company that offered both value at the right resource level but allowed for growth."

Experience That Made the Decision Easier

Breadth of Experience for Requirements That Could Change

Michael’s team evaluated Technology Rivers not simply on price, but on the relationship between price and experience.

Technology Rivers’ background across both government and non-government work stood out to Michael. More importantly, he saw that breadth of experience as evidence that the team had encountered many different types of requirements.

For a company building from scratch while planning for the future, that mattered. They weren’t selecting a team for one narrowly defined task. They wanted people capable of navigating what came next.

“Looking at Technology Rivers’ price point versus their experience, it was an ideal option.”

A Development Model That Could Change With the Business

Scale Up. Scale Down. Develop at the Right Level.

Michael didn’t want the engagement itself to become a constraint.

During the evaluation process, he appreciated that Technology Rivers presented different options and allowed his team to choose the degree to which they wanted to develop the solution.

The model also allowed them to adjust resources over time.

That flexibility supported a larger objective: creating a development relationship that could change as the company’s requirements changed rather than requiring the company to select its future resource needs upfront.

More Than Project Communication

Building a Concrete Basis of Trust

Michael describes something unusual about his team’s vision for the developer relationship: they wanted it to “run into perpetuity.”

That makes communication more consequential.

A lasting development relationship requires trust, accessibility, and a consistent way for the client and development team to stay aligned.

Michael specifically highlights Technology Rivers’ combination of communication tools and personal outreach.

For him, that combination created the continual communication necessary for a relationship designed to last.

"We want to develop a relationship with our developers that runs into perpetuity, so it's important that we had a concrete basis of trust, but also just a continual communication."

Guidance Before the Engagement Even Begins

A Partner Willing to Recommend the Right Direction

One of Michael’s strongest endorsements is also one of the most revealing.

His advice to someone considering Technology Rivers isn’t simply to hire them. It is to talk with them.

Michael believes Technology Rivers will make recommendations that help a prospective client identify the appropriate development solution, including other options when appropriate.

That positions the relationship differently from a development vendor whose primary objective is maximizing the scope of an engagement.

For organizations making an important software investment, useful guidance can start before a line of code is written.

Technical / Delivery Capability

Enterprise Development With Room to Grow

What he does describe is the broader development capability his team needed:

Enterprise-wide development

The team was working toward an enterprise-wide solution rather than an isolated feature.

Integration readiness

The solution needed the ability to integrate with other solutions as it evolved.

Varied requirements

Michael valued Technology Rivers’ experience working across many different requirements.

Flexible resourcing

His team could choose the level of development and scale resources up or down over the relationship.

Together, those capabilities gave Michael’s team a development model designed around both the current product and its future direction.

A Relationship Designed to Last

Not Just the Initial Build

What it does establish very clearly is the intent behind the relationship.

From the beginning, Michael’s team wanted a development partner capable of staying with the business over the long term.

Technology Rivers’ flexibility, communication, experience, and ability to adjust resources helped create that foundation.

And Michael’s assessment of the relationship today is straightforward:

“We’re very pleased where we are today.”

The Bottom Line

Supportive. Flexible. Productive.

Michael’s story demonstrates four qualities that mattered when his team selected a development partner:

Experience

A breadth of previous work that gave the team confidence Technology Rivers could navigate different requirements.

Flexibility

Options around the level of development and the ability to scale resources up or down.

Trust

A relationship intended to continue far beyond an initial project.

Communication

Consistent communication supported through both tools and personal outreach.

For Michael, the strongest endorsement may be that he doesn’t tell prospective clients to begin by signing a contract.

He tells them to begin with a conversation.

“Talk with them. They’re going to give you great recommendations that would help lead you to either the ideal solution with them or other options.”
