The Product Challenge
Helping Clinicians Navigate Complex Cases Without Losing the Human Perspective
Clinicians working through difficult cases, especially in oncology, need access to the latest applicable medical research and the experience of colleagues. Jan describes the impossibility of personally keeping up with all new publications, citing more than 20 publications an hour.
Konsuld set out to connect AI-generated recommendations, supporting clinical research and references, and a network of clinicians who could discuss the same case.
Making those capabilities useful was a product challenge as much as a technology challenge. The interface needed to be simple, sophisticated, and conducive to medical practice.
Technology Rivers joined at inception to build the infrastructure, UI/UX, and application experience around the clinical and AI capability.

BUILDING A DIFFERENT KIND OF CLINICAL PLATFORM
AI-Powered Research. Real-World Clinical Experience. One Connected Platform.
Jan describes Konsuld as combining elements of a clinical-grade AI platform, Reddit-style discussion, and LinkedIn-style collaboration, all focused on clinicians. The platform is designed to provide research-backed recommendations and then invite clinical colleagues to contribute their experience.
Konsuld developed most of the AI enablement. Technology Rivers developed the infrastructure and product experience to bring it together in a web and mobile application. The value was integration of two complementary sources of knowledge, not a claim that software replaces clinical judgment.

Designing Around the Clinician
Making Sophisticated Technology Feel Natural in Clinical Practice
Busy clinicians will not benefit from a powerful system that is difficult to navigate. Jan calls finding the right UI/UX one of the biggest challenges.
Konsuld contributed clinicians’ experience; Technology Rivers contributed software design and lessons from other healthcare and technology projects. Together they iterated toward an interface that presented advanced clinical capabilities in a professional, usable way.
Jan reports consistent positive reactions to the app’s functionality, intuitive experience, and sophistication when presenting it to constituents.
FROM INITIAL CONCEPT TO MARKET FEEDBACK
An Early Prototype That Helped Validate the Product Direction
At the beginning of development, Konsuld wanted a working demonstration for a conference at the end of May or beginning of June to gauge interest from clinicians and pharmaceutical and biotechnology stakeholders.
Technology Rivers helped get a prototype ready for that opportunity, and Jan describes the response as overwhelmingly positive.
The team then used this initial design as a base for continued iteration, adding insights from feedback and market practices. That early demo made the concept tangible well before the full product journey was complete.

[0:00] My name is Jan Heybroek I’m the CEO and co-founder of Konsuld. Konsuld is a clinical AI and physician collaboration platform.
[0:07] Technology Rivers was instrumental in helping us design and build the app. They were responsible for all of the infrastructure, the UX, the UI.
[0:15] I have worked with offshore and onshore development teams for the better part of two decades.
[0:24] What stood out for me was Ghazenfer, as the CEO, being involved in the project and understanding the project, not just in the beginning, but throughout the project.
[0:31] It felt like we were getting really good value for the fees that were charged, very fair, and the quality of the product was really good.
[0:46] Very rarely did we have to go back and say, “This is not working.” The use cases were addressed professionally, very well, within timing, within budget, within expectations. Two thumbs up for that experience.
[0:54] We got a fast prototype, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive since we’ve been in the market. No downtime.
[1:11] The technology side and the ability to deliver to our customers and our members has been very impressive. We’ve got hundreds of doctors and nurses on the platform, and they are referring the app to their colleagues.
